Caprari: “Happy to score, even happier with the win”

He was in the right man in the right place at the right time. That’s how Gianluca Caprari opened the scoring for Samp against Fiorentina, his goal setting the Blucerchiati on the way to their first win at the Stadio Franchi in 13 years.

Having opened his Samp account against Foggia in the Coppa Italia, he’s now got his first Serie A goal for the club too. But while pleased with his strike and the win, he was adamant he should have done better.

“I’m pleased with my goal and even more so about the win but if I’d scored our third in the second half we could have put the game to bed.

“Florence is never an easy place to come to but we dug in and showed great team spirit to secure the points.”

Samp’s next match after the international break is against Caprari’s former club Roma.

“It will feel special when play Roma because I came through there but I’m a Samp player now and we’re a tough team to beat.”
