Rampant Samp hit double figures in first outing of season

Despite engaging in a full training session this morning, Sampdoria made light work of their first friendly of the season, putting a whopping ten goals past an Alta Valle XI. Coach Walter Zenga had instructed his charges to play two-touch football, ensuring the hordes of Blucerchiati fans in Temù to watch the match were kept well-entertained.

Okaka grabbed the first goal of the season on eight minutes, with new signing Bonazzoli making it 2-0 six minutes later. It was three in the 18th minute after Okaka found the net again, while Bonazzoli levelled up the two strikers’ personal scoring battle not 60 seconds later to make it 4-0. Croatian midfielder Lulic then muscled in on the act with two goals before half-time.

Zenga made wholesale changes at the break, but Samp’s rhythm was uninterrupted as De Vitis and then Correa brought up 8-0. Eder added another on 82 minutes with a splendid solo effort, while the youngster Oneto completed a 10-0 rout in the 86th minute.
