Football Data: Facts and figures on Palermo v Sampdoria

The leading Italian statistics agency on national and international football has provided some facts and figures on Sunday’s clash between the Rosaneri and the Blucerchiati.

Goalless draws not in the Palermo armoury. The Rosaneri are one of six Serie A sides who, so far this season, are yet to play out a 0-0. The other teams with such a record are Cagliari, Crotone, Inter, Juventus and Lazio. The Sicilians’ last goalless draw came on 8 May 2016, away at Fiorentina.

Two teams with few goal scorers. Palermo v Sampdoria will see the two of the sides with the fewest goal scorers in Serie A take to the field. After 25 games, only seven Palermo players have found the back of the net (a record shared with Empoli), while for the Blucerchiati the number stands at six.

Rosaneri penalty woes. Palermo are the only team in this Serie A season to have been awarded no penalties after 25 games. The last time the side were awarded a penalty in a league game was back in April 2016, which Franco Vazquez stuck away in a 2-2 draw with Atalanta. The team have played 29 matches have been played since then.

Samp super subs. No team in the Serie A have had more goals scored by substitutes this season than Sampdoria. Eight Doria goals have been provided by players coming off the bench: five by Patrik Schick and three by Bruno Fernandes.

Macedonian talisman. In this 2016/17 Serie A season, Palermo are the team that has shown itself to be most dependent on the contribution of one individual. Ilija Nestorovski’s goals have earned Palermo 9 of the 14 points they have picked up during this campaign.

A regular in the referee’s notebook. No player has been booked more times this season than Palermo’s Edoardo Goldaniga, who along with Giuseppe Bellusci of Empoli has picked up 10 yellow cards after 25 rounds of fixtures.
