Football Data: key facts and figures on Roma v Samp in the Coppa Italia

We’ve teamed up with Football Data to bring you the key stats on Samp’s Coppa Italia Round of 16 clash against Roma on Thursday night.

Giallorossi lead head-to-head record. Roma and Sampdoria have faced off 67 times in the capital, with the Giallorossi enjoying the best of the match-up so far with 44 wins, the most recent of which was their 3-2 Serie A victory earlier this season. There have been a further 13 draws (1-1 in the 2012/13 Serie A season) and ten Samp wins (most recently our 2-0 victory in the 2014/15 Serie A season).

Spalletti edges managerial match-up. Thursday will see the sixth competitive meeting between Luciano Spalletti and Marco Giampaolo. As things stand, the Roma boss leads the way with three wins to Giampaolo’s two. There has never been a draw between the two coaches.

No goals conceded by Roma in 233 minutes. The Giallorossi have not conceded since De Guzman scored in the 32nd minute of Roma’s 3-1 defeat of Chievo on 22 December. Neither Genoa nor Udinese were able to breach the Roma defence.

31 points from 33 for Roma at home. Roma have won ten and drawn one of their last 11 home games. Austria Vienna were the last team to avoid defeat at the Stadio Olimpico, snatching a 3-3 drawn in the Europa League on 20 October. The Giallorossi have scored in each of those 11 games, racking up a total of 34 goals.

Roma’s Coppa Italia drought. The Giallorossi are without a Coppa Italia goal in 216 minutes’ play. Their last goal was scored by De Rossi in the 114th minute of their 2-1 win over Empoli on 21 January 2005. Since then, Roma have failed to score against Fiorentina and Spezia, both of whom knocked them out of the cup.

No away win in the cup since 2007. Sampdoria haven’t won a Coppa Italia match away from home since their 2-1 win at Chievo on 17 January 2007. Since then, Doria have drawn two and lost six of their eight away games.

216 minutes since last away cup goal. Samp haven’t found the back of the net in the Coppa Italia for 216 minutes, with their last goal coming in the 84th minute of the 1-1 draw with Juve Stabia on 18 August 2012. Doria failed to score against both Roma (1-0 in 2013/14) and Inter (2-0 in 2014/15).
