Football Data: Key stats on Sampdoria v Juventus

Samp unbeaten in seven. Marco Giampaolo’s Sampdoria side are enjoying a fine run of form and are currently on a seven-game unbeaten streak. Their last defeat was the 1-0 loss at Atalanta on 22 January, but since then Samp have won five and drawn two.

Doria sixth-best side since turn of season. The Blucerchiati have 18 points from their nine games since the halfway point of the season, an average of two points per match. If the season had started in Week 19, Samp would be in sixth place – a Europa League spot – behind Juventus and Napoli in joint first on 22 points, Roma and Inter in joint third on 21 and Lazio in fifth on 19.

Samp’s super subs. Sampdoria have had more goals scored by substitutes than any other Serie A team this season. After 28 games, nine of Samp’s 35 goals have come from subs – 25.7%. Patrik Schick has nabbed six of them, with Bruno Fernandes getting the other three.

Schick, the sub supreme. Patrik Schick is Serie A’s leading substitute appearance maker this season. He’s come off the bench 17 times in 28 rounds of matches, the same number as Udinese’s Stipe Perica.

Muriel eyes record haul. Luis Muriel scored his tenth Serie A goal of the season to sink Genoa in the local derby last time out. It means the Colombian is just one strike off his career-best haul of 11 goals, which he set as an Udinese player in the 2012/13 season.

Different scorers. Samp v Juventus will pit the team with the fewest different scorers this season (Samp, for whom just six players – Edgar Barreto, Bruno Fernandes, Luis Muriel, Dennis Praet, Fabio Quagliarella and Patrik Schick – have found the net) against the team with the most. Juventus have had 15 different scorers: Alex Sandro, Mehdi Benatia, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Juan Cuadrado, Dani Alves, Paulo Dybala, Hernanes, Gonzalo Higuain, Sami Khedira, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Mario Mandzukic, Claudio Marchisio, Miralem Pjanic and Daniele Rugani.

Own-goal fest. Sampdoria have had four own goals in their favour this season to Juventus’ three. It means the match at Marassi sees the league’s two leading own-goal “scorers” face off against each other.

Juve no defeats. Juventus have won eight and drawn one of their last nine games. The draw was the 1-1 result at Udinese on March 5. Juve haven’t lost since there were downed 2-1 by Paulo Sousa’s Fiorentina in Florence on 15 January.

Juve sweeping the board. If Juventus do win their sixth consecutive Scudetto title, it will be the first time a team has managed the feat since the modern format of Serie A was introduced in the 1929/30 season. After 28 rounds of matches, Massimiliano Allegri’s side have won more games than anyone else (23), had the fewest draws (one), lost the fewest matches (four, equal with Napoli), conceded the fewest goals (19), given away the fewest penalties (one) and had the fewest players sent off (none, like Udinese and Roma).

Decisive Higuain. Gonzalo Higuain is Serie A’s most decisive player. After 28 rounds of matches, Juventus have 24 extra points thanks to his goals.

First 15 minutes. Juventus are Serie A 2016/17’s highest scorers in the first quarter of an hour of matches. The Bianconeri have found the net 11 times in that period.
