Primavera: Samp earn impressive point against Atalanta

Sampdoria Primavera bounced back from their disappointing Coppa Italia elimination with a hard-fought draw against league leaders Atalanta on Saturday afternoon.

Atalanta started strongly, drawing a good save from Hutvagner and hitting the post in the opening 15 minutes, but it was the Blucerchiati who scored first as Stijepovic got to a ball before opposition keeper Carnesecchi and duly slotted home for 1-0 with 22 minutes on the clock.

Samp’s lead lasted for just ten minutes, however. From a corner, Kulusevski’s delivery was met by Heidenreich, whose header sailed past Hutvagner and into the net for 1-1.

The game became stretched after the break, with both teams squandering chances to take the lead. Atalanta continued to pose a threat on the break until the end, but Veips and then Hutvagner produced some heroics late on to ensure Samp got a deserved point.
