Primavera: Scarlino and Bahlouli secure vital win at Empoli

Sampdoria Primavera claimed a massive three points at Empoli on Saturday to haul themselves out of the relegation zone.

After a slow start, Massimo Pavan’s U19s took the lead from a lightning counter-attack as Luca Scarlino exchanged passes with Cabral and steered beyond the keeper.

Goncalo Cabral was forced off with an injury in the 39th minute and Mohamed Bahlouli – making his return after missing the Torino game through injury himself – came on in his place.

The Blucerchiati took a 1-0 lead in at half time but only thanks to a miraculous save by Titas Krapikas, who denied Montaperto an almost certain goal shortly before the interval.

Ten minutes after the restart Bahlouli curled an inch-perfect free kick into the top corner to make sure of the points.

Samp’s second win on the bounce sees them move up to 12th place on 25 points, just outside the two play-out spots. There’s still plenty of work to do though with three lower-placed teams within three points and seven games left to play.
