Samp and Genoa to wear special derby t-shirt in honour of city flag

Sampdoria and Genoa will pay homage to the city’s traditional flag – the red and white of St George’s Cross – at the Derby della Lanterna on Sunday.

The players of both teams will warm up with a special t-shirt while dozens of children will carry a flag onto the pitch as part of the celebrations for the city’s first Flag Festival on 23 April this year.

A series of events have been organised across the city to promote the occasion – coinciding with Saint George’s Day – in memory of the historic symbol of La Superba.
