Samp Primavera sunk by second-half Roma show
Sampdoria Primavera’s unbeaten run came to an end at Roma on Sunday as the Giallorossi secured a 4-1 win over Simone Pavan’s Doria youngsters.
Roma started on the front foot, but the Blucerchiati defended well and were able to venture forward and work a couple of good chances through Boutrif, who was making his first start. Yet on 30 minutes Samp’s good work was undone as the Giallorossi were awarded a penalty, with Celar making no mistake from the spot.
Far from letting their heads drop, however, Doria surged back and quickly levelled the scores as Boutrif powered a shot across the Roma goal and in at the back post for 1-1.
Samp began strongly after the break, but another penalty was to prove the decisive turning point in the game. Veips clashed with Freddi Greco in the box, with the latter hitting the deck to win the spot-kick for the Giallorossi. Celar stepped up for his second penalty of the game, sending Hutvagner the wrong way to give the home side a 2-1 lead.
Despite attempts to get back into the game by Pavan’s youngsters, Riccardi made it 3-1 on 75 minutes, having been picked out on the edge of the six-yard box. And Roma’s win was complete five minutes before full time, as second-half sub Buso found the net for 4-1.
