Samp strikers shine in first pre-season outing: 11-0 against Sellero Novelle

Sampdoria’s first pre-season friendly proved to be the now-traditional rout as they beat amateur side Sellero Novelle 11-0, with Marco Giampaolo’s striking options all looking sharp.

After an 8-0 victory in 2015 and a 13-1 win last summer, this time the Blucerchiati notched 11 unanswered goals courtesy of Gianluca Caprari (three), Fabio Quagliarella (two), Ibou Balde (two) and Federico Bonazzoli (four).

It took Samp seven minutes to open the scoring and it was new signing Caprari who got the first goal of pre-season with a tidy control, turn and finish.

Quagliarella made it 2-0 from the spot after Ricky Alvarez was felled in the box, and the veteran added a third when he was set up by Caprari midway through the half.

The former Pescara man grabbed his second of the game with a dinked finish on the half-hour mark and completed his hat-trick courtesy of Quagliarella’s perfectly weighted ball five minutes later.

Giampaolo rang the changes at half time and Dennis Praet was the only name from the starting XI to reemerge after the break.

The Blucerchiati made it 6-0 in the 57th minute when Daniel Pavlovic centred for Bonazzoli, the 20-year-old firing home first time.

His second, seven minutes later, was much easier as he tapped into an open net after Filip Djuricic had glided through the Sellero defence and squared for his team-mate.

Primavera forward Balde then got in on the act with a brace of his own, Bonazzoli laying on the assist for both.

And the Italian completed the scoring with two more – one easy and one difficult finish –taking his personal tally to four for the day.
