Senegal upset a Samp-less Poland, Kownacki and Bereszynski on late

Poland begin their 2018 World Cup campaign in Russia on the wrong foot. At the Spartak Stadium in Moscow none of the three Samp players in the Poland squad were picked to start by coach Adam Nawalka, and Senegal were able to take advantage.

The African side took the lead on the 37th minute, thanks to an unlucky own-goal by Cionek, before doubling it in the 60th, Niang striking in the midst of Poland’s defensive confusion. Dawid Kownacki (on at the 73rd minute for Milik), and Bartosz Berezynski (at the 83rd for Piszczek) were unable to help their side turn things around. Poland got one back on 86 minutes, thanks to Krychowiak, but their opponents got the win, putting them top of Group H along with Japan, fresh off their 2-1 win against Colombia.
