Squad split into two in Bogliasco, Cassano and Mesbah available

There was no time at all to savour yesterday evening’s victory against Bologna as Samp came straight back to work at the Centro Sportivo Mugnaini today.

To kick things off, Walter Zenga and his staff split the squad into two groups. The players who were heavily involved in the match at the Marassi went through a warm-down session, while the rest of the guys were put through an intense workout involving fitness drills, exercises on tactics and technique, as well as some training games.

There were happy returns to the group for Antonio Cassano and Djamel Mesbah, who is back after spending time away for family reasons.

On the injury front, Lorenzo De Silvestri worked on his personal recovery programme and Andrea Coda continued with his post-operation return to fitness in Rome.

Tomorrow has one session planned in the morning.
