Surprise U21 Euro call-up for Bonazzoli

Federico Bonazzoli will compete at the UEFA European U21 Championship this summer. The Sampdoria forward, who spent last season on loan at Padova and was initially left out of the final squad for the Azzurrini, has been drafted in by coach Luigi Di Biagio as a last-minute replacement for the injured Andrea Pinamonti. Bonazzoli will join up with club team-mate Emil Audero for the continental competition that is set to take place in Italy and San Marino between 16 and 30 June.
Sampdoria U17 goalkeeper Petar Zovko has also recently received a significant call-up, having impressed for Felice Turano’s side throughout the season. The shotstopper has been selected in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s U18 squad to take part in the 23rd International Youth Football tournament in Niigata, Japan between 9 and 17 July.
