UEFA Nations League: Praet earns Belgium recall as five other Doria players selected

Sampdoria will have six players competing in the next round of the UEFA Nations League over the next week or so, with important points up for grabs across the continent.

In addition to Gianluca Caprari, who has been named in Roberto Mancini’s Italy squad, Bartosz Bereszynski and Karol Linetty have been called up by Poland for two games that could turn Group 3 (League A) on its head. Poland kick things off against Portugal on 11 October before taking on Italy on 14 October, with both games taking place in Chorzow at 20:45 CEST.

After four years away, Dennis Praet has been called up to the Belgium senior squad for two important games in Group 2 (League A) against Switzerland on 12 October and Iceland on 16 October. Both games are taking place in Brussels at 20:45 CEST.

Albin Ekdal’s Sweden will be looking to bounce back after they were beaten by a late Turkey goal last time out. The Swedes take on Russia in Group 2 (League B) in Kaliningrad (11 October, 21:45 CEST). Jan Andersson’s men then face Slovakia in a friendly in Solna (16 October, 20:45 CEST).

Slovenia have called up Vid Belec as they look to kick on after a difficult start. Tomaz Kavcic’s men have a chance to recover from two opening defeats with games against Norway in Oslo (13 October, 18:00 CEST kick-off) and Cyprus in Ljubljana (16 October, 20:45 CEST). Both matches will be vital if Slovenia are to avoid relegation from Group 3 (League C).
