Uruguay and Colombia look to Samp: Ramirez, Torreira and Zapata called up

With the confirmations for European national call-ups announced, and the list of Azzurri picked by Luigi Di Biagio soon to be revealed, the South American nations have publicised their own selections. Adding to the group already made up of Poles Bartosz Bereszynski, Dawid Kownacki, and Karol Linetty, Slovenian Vid Belec, Croatia’s Ivan Strinic, and Denmark’s Joachim Andersen, we can now confirm official invitations have arrived for yet more of the Samp squad to represent their countries.

Uruguay: We start off with two firsts, made even happier coming as they do with Uruguay’s FIFA World Cup campaign so close on the horizon. Gaston Ramirez, for the first time since his arrival in Genoa, and Lucas Torreira, for the first time in his career, have both been picked by Oscar Tabarez to form part of the 23 players who will represent Uruguay at the China Cup 2018, planned for 22-26 March. La Celeste will start off the Asian showcase on the 22nd March against the Czech Republic at the Guangxi Sports Center in Nanning.

Colombia: Russia 2018 looms ever closer, and Colombia will also look to test themselves ahead of it. As he has since last October, Jose Pekerman puts his trust in Duvan Zapata, who is set to face first France, on the 23rd March at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, and then Australia, on the 27th March at Craven Cottage in London.
