Around the World returns to Africa: Samp Camp arrives in Benin

Even in these challenging times, Sampdoria continues to bring its unmistakeable colours to all four corners of the world.

The Samp Camp Around the World project is continuing with a new initiative in Benin, following in the footsteps of previous experiences in Uganda, Ivory Coast and Kenya.

One hundred boys and girls of between the ages of six and 16 will have the chance to take part in the very first Social Samp Camp in the city of Cotonou, which is the most populous in the country. The group will get stuck into 30 hours of training during the week, wearing the iconic Samp jersey and working to the instructions of Blucerchiati coaches Marco Bracco, Roberto Morosini and Alessandro Pipolo.

While a key aim of Around the World is to share the Sampdoria philosophy and training methodology, the overall objective of the initiative is to bring people and cultures together through the medium of football – that most universal of languages.

Back in May 2019, for example, Sampdoria organised a four-day mini-camp with 64 young people from four refugee camps (Bidi Bidi, Labile, Imvepi and Rhino Camp).

For now, our journey around the globe continues, spurred on by our love for the game and our commitment to social justice.
