Bereszynski: “First half good but tough after going behind”

Bartosz Bereszynski held his hands up and admitted Sampdoria’s errors were ultimately to blame for their defeat at Cagliari.

“We made too many mistakes and we paid for them. I don’t think there was anything wrong with the red card for [Tommaso] Augello but it meant we had to play with 10 men from the 35th minute. However, a penalty like that straight after the restart didn’t help – it shouldn’t have been given in my opinion.

“We played the way we wanted in the first half and only conceded that one chance to Joao Pedro. Then suddenly we found ourselves behind and it was tough after that. We wanted to win today but we made too many mistakes.”

The full back will spend the next 10 days with Poland before returning ahead of Doria’s home match against Bologna.

“We have a break from Serie A now, but that actually means three international matches. In any case I’m ready to play every three days.”
