Goals galore as Samp stick 15 past Sellero Novelle on season debut
The Eusebio Di Francesco era got off to a successful start on Wednesday afternoon as Sampdoria beat local outfit Sellero Novelle 15-0 in Ponte di Legno.
With Capezzi, Ekdal and Quagliarella rested and Regini continuing to work his way back from injury, Di Francesco set his side out in his trademark 4-3-3 formation. The Blucerchiati found the net seven times in the first half, Verre – playing as striker – netting five and setting one up for Caprari. Gabbiadini and Murillo got the other goals.
Di Francesco made 11 changes at the break but the goals continued to flow, with Maroni, Bonazzoli (hat-trick), Sala (brace) and Thorsby (brace) doing the business.
A good start, but there’s much more work to do.
