Rocchi visits Bogliasco for refereeing session, group work ahead of the derby

With a place in the Coppa Italia Fourth Round in the bag following Tuesday’s win over Salernitana, Sampdoria were back at the Centro Sportivo Gloriano Mugnaini on Wednesday morning to begin preparing for the Derby della Lanterna against Genoa on Sunday night.

Ahead of the training session, the squad met with former referee and current institutional relations consultant Gianluca Rocchi for a session outlining the new rules introduced for the 2020/21 season.

Next, the squad split up with those involved for all or most of the cup win over Salernitana – including Adrien Silva, who came off with a knock – working through a recovery session. The rest of the squad kicked things off with strength work in the gym before moving onto technique drills, tactical exercises and practice games.

Antonio Candreva had an individual session outside, while Manolo Gabbiadini had a recovery session focusing on fitness.

Samp will train again on Thursday morning.
