Samp in action: Tonelli and Saponara meet Morandi bridge displaced

Sampdoria paid an emotional visit to the site of the Morandi bridge collapse on Tuesday evening.

Representing the club, as part of the Samp in action initiative, were Lorenzo Tonelli and Riccardo Saponara. They began by walking silently through Via Porro and the surrounding area in the Red Zone, below what remains of the bridge, taking in the harsh reality of the tragedy.

The Blucerchiati duo then moved a few kilometres down the road to the Albatros Theatre, where they shared their thoughts following their earlier experience with the many fans gathered from the Rivarolo district. They also listened to music by the Blue Circled Band as well as the touching words of Paola Guidi, mayor of Campomorone. In this commune Doria will help rebuild the football pitch on which Samuele, 8, the youngest victim of the tragic events of 14 August, used to play. And on which many more children will continue to play in his name and in his memory.
