Sau: “I’ll repay Giampaolo’s faith in me here at Sampdoria”

Marco Sau’s first senior call-up at Cagliari came when Marco Giampaolo was in charge in Sardinia – and the two have now linked up once again at Sampdoria.

“Everything began for me with the coach so I owe him a lot,” said Sau. “I’m motivated and I want to prove my worth. It’s a good time to join because the team is doing very well – they’re just a few points off the Champions League places. I want to help them, give them a hand.”

Sau revealed that he had taken no time at all to make up his mind when he heard about Samp’s interest.

“I think it all happened in about two days,” he said. “I didn’t take long to decide, though it wasn’t easy to leave Sardinia after so long. I’ve always seen Samp as a great club and a top side, almost unattainable. But now I’m here, I’m raring to go.”
