Scamacca cancels out Jankto as derby spoils are shared

There were no winners from the first derby of the season as Sampdoria and Genoa played out a 1-1 draw in an empty Stadio Ferraris.

Jakub Jankto gave Doria the lead with a brilliant solo effort midway through the first half. Collecting the ball near the touchline, the cut inside from the right, ghosted past Domenico Criscito and picked his spot in the far corner.

The goal jerked Genoa into action and they levelled within minutes. Gianluca Scamacca was afforded too much space in the box and he made Doria pay by firing low into the bottom corner.

The result nonetheless extends Sampdoria’s unbeaten run to four games and takes them into eighth place on 10 points.
