Brentan, Prelec and Trimboli strike as Samp Primavera go top

Sampdoria Primavera secured a 3-2 win away at Bologna on Sunday to return to the top of the Primavera 1 Championship.

Michael Brentan gave us the lead from a corner after just two minutes’ play, with Nik Prelec adding a second on 26 minutes after the Bologna goalkeeper failed to claim a cross from the left.

Prelec nearly added a second minutes after the restart with an acrobatic effort, but it was Bologna who struck next as Edoardo Vergani turned in a cross on 55 minutes.

Prelec again threatened seconds later – his header narrowly missing the target – but Samp wouldn’t have to wait long for their two-goal advantage to be restored.

On 78 minutes, captain Simone Trimboli latched onto a great ball from Gerard Yepes before firing a powerful right-footed effort past Antonio Prisco, on for the injured Marco Molla at half time.

Vergani struck again on 85 minutes to give Bologna hope, but Samp stood firm until the final whistle confirmed the victory and their return to top spot.
