Samp for Special: “We want to play football”

“We want to play football and we wish to do so again soon wearing the most beautiful colours in the world,” the Samp for Special players sent out a loud and clear message, championing equality and inclusion. It is one that takes on even greater significance on 3 December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, as established by the United Nations.

Riccardo, Davide, Giancarlo, Alessio and Luca are part of the Sampdoria squad that was set to take part in the FIGC’s Division for Paralympic and Experimental Football in 2020/21, but everything has been brought to a halt at the moment due to COVID restrictions and the subsequent limitations linked to sporting activity. “Sport and football mean so much to us,” they stated in unison from the pitch at the Ferraris. “It’s right to respect the rules, but we can’t wait to train, get back out on to the pitch and enjoy ourselves again.”
