U19s snatch late point in Cagliari

Sampdoria Primavera grabbed an injury-time equaliser at Cagliari on Saturday when all hope looked to be lost after they were reduced to ten men.

Cagliari took the lead with ten minutes of normal time remaining as a fresh-legged Zito Luvumbo sprinted away from the Blucerchiati rearguard and slotted past Petar Zovko just minutes after coming off the bench.

Things went from bad to worse for Felice Tufano’s side when skipper Simone Trimboli was sent off with five minutes remaining.

However, as the game entered stoppage time, Lorenzo Di Stefano was felled in the box and Gabriele Marrale – who had only just replaced Emanuel Ercolano – stepped up to convert.

The draw means Doria remain fifth in the Primavera 1 standings, with 22 points from 13 games. Fiorentina will be the next opponents when they first visit the Centro Sportivo Garrone on Tuesday.
