Yoshida selected by Japan for Tokyo 2020

Maya Yoshida is set to represent Japan at Tokyo 2020. The captain of the Japan national team has been selected as one of the four players over the age of 23 in the 22-man squad by coach Hajime Moriyasu. The men’s football tournament at the 32nd edition of the Olympic Games will take place between 22 July and 7 August. It will be made up of a group stage followed by knockouts, culminating in the final. The hosts’ schedule is made up of group games against South Africa (22 July), Mexico (25 July) and France (28 July).

Before the action kicks off in Group A, the Japanese will take part in two friendlies as part of the Kirin Challenge Cup 2021 on 12 June against Honduras U24s and on 17 June against Spain U24s.
