Back to work with Juve on the horizon. Tests confirm MCL injury for Murru

Sampdoria returned to work on Tuesday after a break from training following Saturday’s draw in the derby. Reporting back for an afternoon session, the squad focused on fitness work, technical and tactical drills and some training games.

Youth players Emanuel Ercolano, Alex Pastor and Ognjen Stijepovic were drafted in to make up the numbers while Bartosz Bereszynski and Gianluca Caprari trained separately.

Tests carried out on Nicola Murru have confirmed a medial collateral ligament injury in his right knee. In agreement with club doctor Amedeo Baldari, the full-back has begun a conservative treatment programme based on physio and pool therapy.

The team will train both morning and afternoon on Wednesday as they intensify preparations for Sunday’s visit to Juventus.
