Dodo exclusive to Samp TV: “Montella brings out the best in me”

Ever since he was a young boy in Brazil, Dodo Pires’s main pastime was playing football.

“I actually thought I would grow up to be a doctor, but I was always afraid of blood,” he explained to Samp TV. “I also love the sea so at one point I thought about becoming a marine biologist.

“Ultimately, it was football that chose me and I didn’t have any alternatives.”

Dodo also opened the lid on the injuries that have dogged his career: “Injuries have had a big affect on my career so far. Now I’m over that and Sampdoria have given me the chance to fulfil my potential.

“I’m playing under a coach in Vincenzo Montella who is able to bring my best attributes to the fore with his style of football.”
