Dugout: ‘The Moment’ when Quagliarella made derby history
There are times when a single moment can change your life, or even the course of history.
When Fabio Quagliarella collected Duvan Zapata’s pass in the 85th minute of the derby, he only had to apply the simplest of finishes in front of the Doria faithful. He duly obliged: 2-0 to Sampdoria and victory was assured.
Not only was it his first goal in the biggest game of the season, it also meant the Blucerchiati had won three derbies in a row – something that hadn’t been achieved for over 50 years.
“It’s a feeling words can’t describe,” the captain beamed after the game.
