Football Data: Sampdoria v Inter stat pack

Edgar Barreto is set to rack up his 200th appearance in Serie A, having made his debut in the Italian top flight for Reggina in a 1-1 draw against Atalanta on 26 August 2007. The Paraguayan could soon be the his country’s leading appearance maker in Serie A – he’s currently seven games behind.

Three of Sampdoria’s 11 total points have courtesy of two own goals, the biggest contributing factor to the Blucerchiati’s league haul thus far. Doria won the derby after Armando Izzo put through his own net (two points) and drew at Pescara thanks to an own goal from former Samp man Hugo Campagnaro.

Sampdoria have only kept one clean sheet in the league this season – a 1-0 victory at Empoli on the opening weekend of the campaign. The Blucerchiati have conceded 16 in their nine fixtures since.

It’s no exaggeration to say that Inter rely heavily on Mauro Icardi’s goals. Indeed 10 of the Nerazzurri’s 14 points have come via the Argentine hitman (a whopping 71.4%). He is currently statistically the most prolific matchwinner in the whole division.

Inter have lost their last three away games in all competitions: 3-1 at Sparta Prague in the Europa League and 2-1 at Roma and Atalanta respectively in Serie A. Including the back end of last season, the Nerazzurri have lost seven in nine on their travels, only prevailing at Pescara (2-1) and Empoli (2-0).

There are a whole host of players who could face their former employers. Alvarez, Cassano, Dodo, Palombo, Silvestre and Viviano make up the ex-Inter contingent, while Berni, Biabiany, Eder, Icardi and Ranocchia have all had spells with the Blucerchiati.
