Samp return to Italy with two injury concerns ahead of Coppa Italia clash

The Blucerchiati flew back to Genoa on Saturday evening after concluding their mini-tour of England with a mixture of good and not-so-good news.

While Marco Giampaolo can be pleased with the results on the pitch (a win against Fulham and a draw with Watford), there was some concern regarding the fitness of Fabio Quagliarella and Jacopo Sala after they were forced off early at Vicarage Road.

The captain left the field as a precaution just a few minutes into the game after feeling a twinge in his right thigh while the full-back twisted his right knee in the latter stages of the match. Both will be re-assessed upon their return to Italy.

The squad will have two days off now before reporting back to the training ground on Tuesday afternoon to begin preparations for their first competitive match of the season, against Viterbese in the Coppa Italia next weekend.
