Silvestre banned, Barreto out: Giampaolo picks 22 for Empoli clash

The Blucerchiati had a final training session behind closed doors ahead of the home game against Empoli. Under the watchful eyes of lawyer Antonio Romei, technical director Daniele Prade and sporting director Carlo Ostuni, the players were put through their paces on the upper pitch in Bogliasco. The group included Matias Silvestre, who is unavailable for the game, serving a ban after his dismissal in the previous outing.

Carlos Carbonero and Jacopo Sala continued their respective recovery programmes, alongside Emiliano Viviano. Edgar Barreto meanwhile has had to undergo therapy and physio work to recover from a muscular complaint in the flexor muscles of the right thigh. That means the midfielder is unavailable for selection by Marco Giampaolo.
