The Unmissable Tour: Sampdoria meet Manchester United

A midsummer night’s dream. Sampdoria will be involved in a showpiece fixture under the lights in Dublin. Marco Giampaolo’s Blucerchiati meet Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United at the Aviva Stadium on 2 August (kick-off 19:45 BST).

It’s not every day you get the chance to meet the most successful club in English football history, who are also set to play the Europa League final, and the Sampdoria fans will no doubt travel in numbers.

Former Blucerchiati man Liam Brady was there to unveil the first leg of the Unmissable Tour alongside former Red Devils man Gary Pallister. We shan’t dwell too long on Manchester United who boast an astonishing 65 trophies at home and abroad.

Instead we prefer to see this as a glamorous match which will showcase some of the best young talent in Europe. A quarter of a century on from Wembley, we head over the Channel once again. It may only be a summer friendly but who’s to say it won’t augur well for the future.
