Viviano: “Desperate to play in the Europa League”

Blucerchiati goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano made the most of his enforced hiatus from the Ponte di Legno training camp (courtesy of a dental abscess) to give fans an update on how preparations for the new season are coming along. One thing’s for certain – Viviano can’t wait for the new season to get underway: “We’ve worked very well with a coach who intends to achieve big things. The staff are very determined and innovative – they have just as much desire as we do.

“We’ll see what happens in the transfer market. The club is still looking for a few things, but the most important thing is our group attitude. Zamparini wanted to take me back to Palermo but I explained my wishes to him and I’m glad the president here made efforts to accommodate them,” explained Viviano.

The Samp goalie then spoke about the prospect of a Europa League run this season: “Let’s take it one step at a time. We worked very hard to get there and we’ll try to do our best. I don’t yet know where we’ll play our home games, but in any case the most important thing is to win. How and where it happens is irrelevant – our fans will be there and will make themselves heard no matter what.”
