Viviano injury update: tests reveal partial fracture for Sampdoria goalkeeper
Tests have revealed that Sampdoria goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano has suffered a partial fracture of the scaphoid bone. Viviano sustained the injury after making a close-range save from Gianluca Caprari in the first half of Samp’s 1-1 draw with Pescara on Saturday.
In addition to the opinion of the club’s orthopaedist Dr Claudio Mazzola, the Sampdoria medical staff – led by Dr Amedeo Baldari – also consulted hand surgery specialists who agreed that conservative treatment was the best course of action.
Viviano will wear a special guard to protect his wrist, with further tests set to take place in ten days’ time.
