Dugout pays tribute to the marvellous Ramirez-Quagliarella duo

“I’m the man for the assists, he gets the goals,” explained a smiley Gaston Ramirez after a clash between Sampdoria and Fiorentina in January 2018 in which the Uruguayan provided no fewer than three assists with his wand of a left foot, each of which was more stunning than the previous one. The “he” refers to Fabio Quagliarella, who took full advantage of the brilliant supply to notch his first hat-trick for the Blucerchiati. The link-up play between the two has always been effective, as the numbers show, with the pair registering 14 goals thanks to the Uruguay-Italy connection.

During their first game together, Gaston played Quagliarella in behind with an inch-perfect pass that simply required a first-time finish in front of the Gradinata Sud to seal a comeback victory for Samp against Benevento.
