Samp beat Kalloni 3-0 in front of Ferrero thanks to Eder brace and Muriel strike

Sampdoria beat Greek side Kalloni 3-0 at Pinzolo’s Centro Sportivo Pineta this evening, with surprise guest Massimo Ferrero watching on. “It was an entertaining match, we’re working well and are keeping calm ahead of the Europa League qualifier,” declared Ferrero after the match.

Walter Zenga opted for a 4-3-3 formation against the Greeks. Cassani, Silvestre, Zukanovic and Regini formed a back four in front of Viviano, while Fernando anchored a three-man midfield completed by Soriano and Barreto. Muriel led the line, with Eder to the right and Krsticic on the left.

The Blucerchiati were on the front foot from the off, while Kalloni looked to hang back and play on the counter. Samp took the lead on 23 minutes, Muriel reacting acrobatically to stick away the rebound from Barreto’s blocked free-kick. It was 2-0 in the 40th minute, as Eder converted a penalty awarded after Soriano was brought down by the Kalloni goalie inside the box.

The second half started in much the same vein, with Samp in the driving seat. Zenga’s men had a third on 64 minutes, as Eder stabbed home from a corner to seal his personal double and complete the scoring.

Samp will be back on the training pitch tomorrow morning.
