Eder after first European goal: “We’ll learn a lot from this elimination”
“We wanted to come here and score four goals. We really believed we could do it.” Eder Citadin Martins had no qualms admitting that while everyone else was writing off Samp’s chances he was one of those who really believed mission impossible was possible.
Speaking after Doria’s 4-2 aggregate loss to Vojvodina in the Europa League, the 29-year-old rued: “We couldn’t pull it off in the end but we had a really good stab at it. It just shows you can’t underestimate anyone in Europe. We’re disappointed to exit the competition but we’ll take heart from this performance and get stuck into the league now.”
Though it ultimately counted for very little, the Brazilian-born Italian got his name on the scoresheet tonight – his first European goal.
“Yes I’m pleased to have scored but the team is the most important thing,” the No.23 told reporters
“This is a great learning experience for us. We need to keep growing but we have a good squad here.”
