Two minutes of mayhem sink Sampdoria against Frosinone

Sampdoria’s struggles on the road continue as Walter Zenga’s men were defeated 2-0 by Serie A newcomers Frosinone.

Despite an excellent first half and a Blucerchiati front three that was brimming with talent, Sampdoria head back to Genoa with nothing to show for after two disastrous minutes towards the beginning of the second half lost the game.

Samp started on the front foot and could have had a goal in the first few minutes. Antonio Cassano created an opportunity for Luis Muriel who rounded Nicola Leali in the Frosinone goal, but the Colombian couldn’t direct his right-footed shot in between the posts. The visitors were on top with Fantantonio oozing class, but they couldn’t manage to turn half an hour of dominance into goals and the teams went in 0-0 at the break.

After the break, Frosinone caught the Blucerchiati napping and found themselves 2-0 up after ten minutes. First Luca Paganini glanced in a header off a corner and then moments later Federico Dionisi lobbed Emiliano Viviano to put the game beyond Samp’s reach. With a comfortable lead to protect, Frosinone locked the doors and played out the rest of the half without danger.
