Montella wants sparks: “Let’s work hard and regain confidence in ourselves”

Vincenzo Montella and his Sampdoria team are searching for the flame that can ignite the rest of their season and get the fans on their side.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of Lazio v Sampdoria, the Blucerchiati head coach called upon his players to step up to the plate: “We need a spark from somewhere and we have to be good enough to find and nurture it.

“We have this load on our backs and we need to get rid of it,” Montella continued. “This is an excellent group with great lads, but unfortunately they’re not able to brush off the criticism they get. We’re in a bad run of form, but I remain optimistic. I’m convinced I made the right choice and I’m happy to be here.”
