Eder talks to Samp TV: “I’m fit again now. Let’s win the derby”
The Genoa derby is just around the corner and Sampdoria can count on a fit-again Eder Citadin Martins as they head into one of the biggest fixtures of the year.
The Italy forward has shaken off a thigh injury after working with a personal trainer in Brazil over the Christmas holidays and is now back in Bogliasco and raring to go.
Samp TV grabbed him for a quick chat as the Blucerchiati gear up for their first game of the new year and asked him to reflect on the past 12 months.
“It was a good year for Sampdoria and for me too,” Eder began. “We had a few difficulties in the last part and for me it ended with this muscle injury but I can’t complain because I’ve been pretty much injury free in recent years. It’s all part and parcel of the game anyway.”
The team’s performances and results prior to the break seem to suggest Samp are picking up again.
“When there’s a change of coaching staff it can take a while to adjust to the new way of working,” the 29-year-old explained. “We’re clicking again now though and we’ve performed well in our last few outings.
“We’re preparing for the derby now – a special game that can inject fresh impetus into our season, but we mustn’t let the pressure get to us. It’s a difficult game but we have to try and win it.”
