Soriano hails Samp grit and determination: “Steel before style, that’s how you win”

Roberto Soriano is a player with a bit of everything. Flair and physique. Style and substance. So it’s rather fitting that he should come out after the 3-0 victory over Hellas and point to Samp’s new-found mettle as one of the secrets to their success.

“We showed tremendous character today,” the midfielder told Samp TV after the final whistle at the Stadio Bentegodi.

“There have been times when we’ve played fancy football without having anything to show for it. Now we’ve realised you need grit and determination if you want to pick up points. We said that to ourselves in the dressing room and we put it into practice on the pitch today – that’s what earned us our first away win in ages.”
