Montella disappointed: “We should have played better, still need points to stay up”
His facial expression post-match told its own story. “We still have to secure survival,” revealed a disappointed Vincenzo Montella at the Marassi. “We’re really gutted about today’s defeat. We did well to stay in the match in the first half, thanks in part to Viviano’s saves.
“We deserved to equalise after the break not in terms of the way the match was going but purely based on the number of chances we had. We should congratulate Chievo for their performance, whereas we weren’t able to build on our recent good form. I still believe we can do well in the final stages of the campaign.”
