Soriano: “Let’s use this defeat as motivation for the derby”

Roberto Soriano has called for Sampdoria to use their anger from Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Palermo to fire themselves up for next weekend’s Derby della Lanterna against Genoa.

“We need to show more bite,” began Soriano after the game. “We should be taking better advantage of the chances that come our way. We’ll have to be better in the derby and make sure we get out there fired up. Our attitude needs to be spot on – we can’t get that wrong. We want to produce two big performances for the whole club and all the fans so we can finish the season on a high.”

Soriano acknowledged that the Blucerchiati had started brightly at the Stadio Barbera on Sunday, but made no bones about the need to improve: “We began with the kind of attitude we needed today, given that it was the most important game of the season for Palermo. After we conceded we lost our way a bit – there’s plenty to be disappointed about.”
