Montella: “I’m a Blucerchiati fan and I couldn’t have left like this”

Vincenzo Montella has spoken of his enthusiasm ahead of the impending 2016/17 season with Sampdoria.

“I’m a Blucerchiati fan and I couldn’t have left like this,” declared Montella, speaking in Pompei as he was awarded the Amalfi Prize at Football Leader 2016.

Montella has been linked with the national team job in recent months, but the Samp coach preferred to remain in Liguria: “It’s an honour to be mentioned – it’s something every player and every coach dreams of. I have great respect for Massimo Ferrero as a man and a president – we spoke about it and decided to keep working together.

“I’m full of enthusiasm and desire to continue this adventure. Our objectives for next season are to start differently to the way we ended the year just gone.”
