Primavera: Woodwork stymies Samp as Juve score twice in second half

Sampdoria Primavera’s poor form continued as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat against Juventus on Saturday, stretching the young Blucerchiati’s losing streak to three games.

It was a balanced first 45 minutes, with Samp almost taking the lead in the opening exchanges as D’Amico’s free-kick was kept out by the woodwork. There was another chance for Doria to take the lead on 23 minutes after a defensive mix-up from Juventus, but – again – luck wasn’t on their side.

Juventus drew first blood five minutes after the restart, with Petrelli – left unmarked in the centre of the box – able to head home for 1-0. The goal spurred Samp on to try to get themselves back on even footing, but Juventus stood firm and put the game to bed five minutes from time after Sene found the net with Samp stretched after a counter-attack.

Next up for Samp is a trip to Sardinia to take on joint leaders Cagliari.
