Ranieri looks to the future: “Let’s build a team which means we no longer have to suffer”

The 2019/20 Serie A season is finally drawing to a close – but Claudio Ranieri has called on Sampdoria to make sure they round off the campaign with a win over Brescia on Saturday afternoon.

“We go to Brescia looking to finish a difficult season on a high,” said Ranieri, speaking on Friday afternoon. “That said, we hit our target with four matches to spare. It won’t be an easy game because Brescia are playing well and fighting in every game, but we want to finish strongly, with a win if possible.”

Ranieri also looked ahead to the future – the transfer window and next season.

“President [Massimo] Ferrero has said he doesn’t want to suffer like we have this season and I hope that’s the case,” said the boss. “I’ve spoken with sporting director Carlo Osti and chief scout Riccardo Pecini about how we can improve the team. We hope to have a good transfer window.”
