Fundamentals, handball matches and running drills: preparations continue

The third day of preparations at Ponte di Legno is in the books. It saw the Samp squad undergo their third straight day of double training sessions on the pitch at Temù, during which Marco Giampaolo continued in taking the tem through a practical exploration of his ideas on play in the morning (first working with the defenders, then midfielders and attackers together) before overseeing some engaging handball matches in the afternoon, rounded off with a series of running drills.

The break between the two sessions saw the lads take a dip in the Oglio River, a ritual which all Samp players take part in, despite the freezing temperatures.

In terms of the players kept on individual programmes, Gaston Ramirez only worked with the squad in the morning, while Valerio Verre followed his own specialised training programme. Another double session is planned for Thursday.
