Kownacki and Caprari lead 7-0 defeat of Ligorna in Bogliasco friendly match

Marco Giampaolo’s Sampdoria squad beat local side Ligorna 6-0 in a friendly match held at the Doria training ground in Bogliasco on Thursday as the Blucerchiati stepped up their preparations for Sunday’s match against Fiorentina.

Ligorna started solidly and even drew a good save from Emiliano Viviano on 20 minutes, but Samp soon took control of the game as Duvan Zapata fired his first chance of the match wide of goal. Fabio Quagliarella and Gaston Ramirez both had opportunities as the half-time whistle approached, but Ligorna held on.

No such problems after the break, as Giampaolo made a host of changes to his team. Dawid Kownacki bagged himself a quick-fire brace in the 48th and 50th minutes to put Samp 2-0 up, before Gianluca Caprari got in on the act with goals of his own on 57 and 75 minutes – either side of a third goal for Kownacki.

Edgar Barreto added a fifth on 80 minutes, while Ricky Alvarez completed the 6-0 win with a measured chip two minutes before the end.

Samp will be back in training on Friday morning.
