Samp beat Sellero Novelle 15-0 in pre-season opener

Sampdoria kicked off 2018/19 with a glut of goals as they put amateur side Sellero Novelle to the sword in their first summer friendly.

It ended 15-0 to Marco Giampaolo’s men – the biggest result Doria have recorded over the last four years in what has become their traditional pre-season opener in Ponte di Legno.

Joachim Andersen was the first to find the net when he met Gaston Ramirez’s corner in the fourth minute.

Nine more goals followed before the break with Dennis Praet, Leonardo Capezzi (the pick of the bunch) and Jakub Jankto grabbing one each, Gianluca Caprari striking twice and Fabio Quagliarella helping himself to four.

Marco Giampaolo rang the changes during the break and Caprari was the only member of the starting XI to return for the second half.

The Italian missed the chance for his hat-trick when he put a penalty against the post but made amends shortly afterwards as he turned in Jacopo Sala’s cross.

Ognjen Stijepovic then notched two in as many minutes before Samp hit the woodwork three times in quick succession through Andrea Tessiore, Sala and Stijepovic.

The 18-year-old Montenegrin did manage to complete his hat-trick, however, and even added a fourth before the game was out.
